The late Rosemary Aubert, Mme Emerita, was an accomplished poet, biographer, editor and romance writer before she turned to crime fiction. She authored more than 20 books, among them the acclaimed Ellis Portal mystery series. She was a two-time winner of the CWC Award of Excellence for Best Novel and Best Short Story.
Rosemary was most generous to fellow authors and aspiring writers. A popular teacher and speaker, she conducted a much-in-demand writer’s retreat at Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario for many years as well as mentoring writing students at the School of Continuing Studies at the University of Toronto.
As a hobby, Rosemary studied math and science and attended lectures at the International Summer School at Cambridge University in England. Her math knowledge had a way of finding its way into her literary works. She was an active member of the Arts and Letters Club of Toronto, the Crime Writers of Canada and the Mystery Writers of America. She passed away in 2024.
