M. H. Callway is the pen name of Madeleine Harris-Callway. In 2013, together with a group of writer friends, she and Donna Carrick co-founded the Mesdames of Mayhem.
Madeleine has been writing since she was a child, but she took a long detour through science, business and IT before taking early retirement to write full-time. She has published more than two dozen short stories and novellas, ranging from comedy to noir. Many have won or been short-listed for major awards, including the Bony Pete, CWC Awards and the Derringer.
Her survivalist thriller, Windigo Fire, was a finalist for the CWA’s Debut Dagger Award and the CWC’s Best Unpublished and Best First Novel Awards. Altogether she’s been nominated seven times for the CWC Awards: she and M. Kevin Thornton have a running contest as to who will be the Biggest Bridesmaid.
You may read her collected short fiction in Glow Glass and Other Tales (Carrick Publishing 2016) and Snake Oil and Other Tales (Carrick Publishing, 2023).
An avid runner, cyclist and down-hill skier, she has completed the Toronto Ride to Conquer Cancer every year since it began in 2008. She is currently at work on several projects, including the second book of the Danny Bluestone series, Windigo Ice.
